We continue our journey through history

March 10 th 2025 - 19:45 [GMT + 1]

Two years ago, La Vuelta Femenina by Carrefour.es took an important step towards becoming a reference in the world of cycling, both nationally and internationally. The riders deserved a stage upon which to showcase their talents, and these two editions did not disappoint, with the best riders in the world fighting for victory. I am sure that this third edition will be no different.

This journey consists of many participants, each playing their part in the race’s ongoing growth. Following Valencia’s Grand Departure in 2024, this edition will see another major Spanish city host the race’s initial stage: Barcelona – a city with a solid trajectory in organising sporting events and one that occupies a privileged position in the cycling field. This habitual finish-line for the Volta a Catalunya already hosted the men’s La Vuelta family during its Grand Departure in 2023 and will also be the epicentre of world cycling with the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in 2026.

However, our race does not only consist of large cities. We also invite many of our country’s rural corners so that they too may continue to form part of our history. La Vuelta Femenina by Carrefour.es will once again be the vertebral axis of rural areas as we visit some towns with just over one hundred inhabitants.

In this edition, we will continue to maintain the race’s identity, commencing with a team time trial followed by a series of exciting linear stages that will develop in crescendo, leaving the high-altitude stages for the final part of the race. Having been a habitual setting for la Vuelta a Burgos, the historical summit of Lagunas de Neila has been a reference in its women’s edition in recent years and will be one of this race’s determining features.

One of our greatest national cycling territories will, once again, be the star of this edition’s final stage. Asturias, a direct witness to the history of cycling, will watch on as the Cotobello climb crowns the winner of La Vuelta Femenina 25 by Carrefour.es, just as the Lagos de Covadonga did in its first edition.

From the Mediterranean to the Asturian mountains, from the big cities to the small towns that make up our territory… we will cover Spain’s geography in order to continue enjoying the best cyclists, to continue growing and, above all, to continue writing the history of our race.
