Cédrine Kerbaol: “Quite an emotional rollercoaster”

Cédrine Kerbaol (EF Education-Oatly) won the third stage of La Vuelta Femenina 26 by Carrefour.es.

“It feels crazy. Yesterday we were riding so well as a team - probably doing our best race ever, with Noemi Rüegg in the red jersey … and then she crashed out. We were in cloud nine, to then hit rock bottom. Now we are back in the up - so it’s quite an emotional rollercoaster! We have been thinking a lot about Noemi today. My team did its best race ever. Kristen [Faulkner] and Alice [Towers] attacked in the closing kilometres, and then I countered to claim the win. I was waiting for the right moment to take a flyer. We already have three days of racing in the legs, and all of us riders are beginning to be a bit tired. Anything could happen into the final and I grabbed my chance. In any case, this one is for the team.”

“As for the next stages, we want to do a good GC. Before the Vuelta, I was thinking of a stage win too but my DS told me to focus on the overall standings - yet they gave me the green light to try my best today, and we managed to land a beautiful victory. We are going to enjoy this success, yet we will remain focused on the challenges to come.”
