Alice Coutinho: “A good reward for our offensive spirit”

Alice Coutinho (Mayenne Monbana My Pie) is the new leader of the Queen of the Mountains classification of La Vuelta Femenina 26 by Carrefour.es after Stage 5.

“Our goal was to show our fighting spirit yet again in this Vuelta. We are an offensive team and we wanted to keep the polka dot jersey, so I went on the breakaway to scoop up as many points as possible. In the end, I scored maximum points in both climbs and we got a good reward for our offensive spirit. It’s quite special that I got the jersey off the shoulders of Marine Allione, because she is both a teammate and a friend. I’m going to keep this one for myself, because this is my first grand tour and my first award jersey - so this represents a precious memory! It’s going to be impossible to win the QOM classification, because there are too many points at stake atop the Alto de l’Angliru. It’s crazy I’ve been able to be a protagonist in the Vuelta Femenina because I have a super close relationship with Spain and I’ve raced in Spanish teams for five years.”
