Monforte de Lemos and La Vuelta

A relatively new addition in the books of La Vuelta, Monfort de Lemos (pop: 19,000) first appeared in the men’s race to host the start of Stage 6 in 2016, won by Simon Yates in Luintra. In this decade, it held the finish of Stage 19 in 2021, when Magnus Cort was the fastest in a seven-man sprint, and last year’s Stage 15, when Mads Pedersen triumphed from the breakaway....

As good as it gets

Galicia being Galicia, this is decent spring weather - cloudy, with temperatures around 14ºC, a gentle wind … and moderate possibilities of mild rains. It will likely rain at some point of the stage, but it is far from guaranteed - and that’s already something in this region!
